Things to Do In Asheville: Live Artist Events with Grove Arcade Artisans
If you are like many people, you want to find things to do to do over the weekend that is fun, easy – and let’s not forget – affordable!
So do something different this weekend!
MOUNTAIN MADE, an Asheville art gallery – located in the Historic Grove Arcade is hosting a series of art exhibits and artist demonstrations in celebration of American Craft Week from Friday October 1st to Sunday October 10th, 2010.
During this week long event, several local artisans will be on hand to show off their skills and artwork in Suite 143 – across from the Mountain Made gallery.
Below are the artists who will be conducting live demonstrations:
• Face Jugs & Handmade Pottery – Charlie Brown of Brown’s Pottery
Charlie will be creating his legendary face jugs and other trademark Carolina pottery
• Scientific Glassblowing – Jason Probstein of Probstein Studios
Jason will be creating goblets, holiday ornaments and more
• Folk Art Basket Weaving – Judy Bryson Quinn of NC Home Crafts
Judy will be demonstrating her how she makes her color woven wares
• Handcrafted Spinning – Marie Hendrix also from Asheville NC Home Crafts
Marie will be demonstrating her skills at spinning and knitted hats, scarves and more
But don’t forget to join us on Friday Oct 1st, 2010 from 5PM to 8PM – The MOUNTAIN MADE art gallery will be hosting a special reception and exhibition with live music along with
some light refreshments to kick off this week long event as well as the Downtown Art Gallery Walk! . Stop in and chat with our artisans about their work and techniques.
