Things to Do in Asheville – Last Weekend of American Craft Week 2010

| Comments Off on Things to Do in Asheville – Last Weekend of American Craft Week 2010

If you love handmade arts and crafts, produced by local mountain artists then you should join us in Asheville this Saturday and Sunday.

For most of us, nothing can match the thrill we feel when we first discover a wonderful new piece by our favorite artist or in our preferred style. MOUNTAIN MADE art gallery seeks to celebrate this sense of joy of collecting during American Craft Week 2010.

This weekend wraps up the week long series of artist demonstrations that have displayed some the best wonders and works from our local artist community.

These are just a few of the handmade arts and crafts that are part of a live event this weekend:

Below are several local artisans who will be conducting live demonstrations and will be on hand to answer questions about their skills and artwork. They are in Suite 143 – across from the Mountain Made gallery:

•   Face Jugs & Handmade Pottery – Charlie Brown of Brown’s Pottery. Charlie will be creating his legendary face jugs and other trademark Carolina pottery.

•    Scientific Glassblowing – Jason Probstein of Probstein Studios. Jason will be creating goblets, holiday ornaments and more.

Hand Painted Floor Cloths – Lynette Miller of FloraCloths Studios. Lynn has several of her best handmade floor coverings and placemats on display.

•    Folk Art Basket Weaving – Judy Bryson Quinn of NC Home Crafts
Judy will be demonstrating her how she makes her color woven wares

•    Handcrafted Spinning – Marie Hendrix also from Asheville NC Home Crafts
Marie will be demonstrating her skills at spinning and knitted hats, scarves and more

Come join us for this last weekend, as we host this special celebration North Carolina mountain art and the fall colors in WNC.
