November 20, 2012 - January 2, 2013 The public is invited to view the houses Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Bus parking is available on Battery Park or at the Chamber of Commerce on Montford Avenue with passenger loading and unloading on O. Henry Avenue. Shop Mountain Made and the Arcade's shops and galleries for the perfect holiday gift. In another holiday tradition, artist Jason Probstein will create beautiful handmade blown glass ornaments, a perfect holiday gift or memento of a trip to Asheville, in Mountain Made, Suite 123, Sundays through Thursdays through the holiday season. Grove Arcade - 1 Page Ave. Thinking about starting an arts and craft business? Now is the time - ask all your legal business questions at this event. What: A panel of local attorneys will be available to answer legal questions to individuals for free. There will be attorneys representing a variety of practice areas available to talk to participants on a one-on-one basis. Mountain Made Art Gallery Inside Grove Arcade We here at Mountain Made are happy that SoCon (2013 Southern Conference Basketball Championships) have chosen to return to our great little city here in the heart of the Blue Ridge. The tournament games (for both men and women) will begin Friday March8th and continue until Monday the 11th. The First Round for both the Men and the Women starts at 11:30AM, Friday. The Women’s Final is at 3PM Monday afternoon, with the Men’s starting at 7PM that same day. All games will be held at the U.S. Cellular Center (the old Civic Center) in downtown Asheville. Eventually you will have a break in the games of your favorite team. There’s no better time to get out of the weather by taking a short walk one block over to the Grove Arcade and visit Mountain Made art gallery. [Click here to watch some more short artist videos!] We will have live music both Friday and Saturday afternoons as well as live art demonstrations by several of our artisans along with music from our favorite local groups. ART DEMOS Glassblowing by Jason Probstein – 11AM to 4PM LIVE MUSIC 2-4PM Mike Cowan & Joe Dan Simpson of South Forty will play their unique blend of rock, bluegrass and classic ballads. 4-6PM Garner Hathaway – An Acoustical Guitarist and Singer who specializes in 60’s Rock Classics. ART DEMOS Glassblowing by Jason Probstein – 11AM to 4PM Handcrafted Ceramics by Jean & Carl Saake – 12PM to 3PM LIVE MUSIC 12-2PM - Garner Hathaway 2-4PM – South Forty (Mike Cowan & Joe Dan Simpson) ART DEMO “Scratch Board” Illustrations by Kimberly Powell Anderson – 12PM to 3PM Out front of the Mountain Made Art Gallery Inside Grove Arcade We will be serving samples of such wonderful ramp recipes as "Savory Salmon Pate" and Olive Oil infused with Ramp Flakes. If you live near the Asheville area, we invite you come by have a sample taste or two (or three - who's counting!) and listen the wonderful music of the Emory Haynes Band. The band will be performing a free concert on Friday, March 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. The playlist includes classic rock, easy listening and blues. Visitors might hear songs such as Dock of the Bay, House of the Rising Sun, Stormy Monday, Spooky, Last dance with Mary Jane and much more. Mountain Made Art Gallery - Inside the Grove Arcade, Downtown Asheville Enjoy the changing exhibitions and the work local artisans in galleries such as Mountain Made during our Spring Downtown Art Walk on Friday evening April 5th from 5 pm to 8pm. These Art Walks are hosted by the members of the Downtown Asheville Art District and are held each year from April to December. Each Art Walk member will showcase new exhibits and artists on the 1st Friday evening of every month! This month, Mountain Made will be hosting a special gallery reception for the kickoff of the Spring season we will another one of our popular ramp food tastings! So we invite you to come by the gallery to check out all the new works from our wonderful local artists that have brought in during the last month or so. After speaking with Jim and watching him start work on a wire sculpture from scratch, you can then browse the gallery to view his completed works! In a holiday tradition, the Arcade and the Grove Park Inn partner to display entries from the annual National Gingerbread House Competition (TM). A wide selection of houses will be on view in Suite 115 on O. Henry Avenue.
Visitors to the building will notice new flocked trees on the spiral staircases, a beautiful tree and lighted antique deer vignette in the West Arcade entry and much more.Ask a Lawyer
