The fiber vessels and decorative pieces I create are inspired by the beauty we are blessed with here-in this place. The sky’s sunsets and sunrises I see from my little bungalow, the dirt, rocks, trees and flowers and of course, my beloved French Broad River.
My grandmother taught me to sew. Only basting at first, then to buttons and needlepoint. Seems I’ve always been surrounded by thread and fibers. There even was a time I raised a large herd of Angora goats, specifically for the fine, gossamer fiber that breed produces.
I began my artistic endeavors as an art quilter but then I had an amazing vision! Whilst having radiation for a brain tumor, strapped down with tears running into my ears, I saw a beautiful multicolored vessel. Instinctively I knew that even in that hard physical place, the vessel of my life was filled with blessings. Take home one of my fiber vessels that captures the unique beauty of this magical place. Let it remind you daily of all you have to be thankful for.
